Best Blog of 2009
One of the biggest things that happened to me in 2009 was that I started using Twitter. Crazy to think that it would have a big impact on my life, but it did. One of the many blessings it brought was expanding my reading to authors and bloggers that were otherwise unknown to me. I have been encouraged by so many quotes, articles, and blogs this year that it’s hard to pick a favorite. Anyway, yesterday I shared my favorite blog post of 2009, and today I want to share my favorite blog discovery of 2009.
My hands down favorite is Sarah Markly’s blog, Best Days of My Life. Many of you who know me well know that I don’t scrapbook, own a craft table, home school, have strong feelings (positive or negative) for Beth Moore, or have much interest for a lot of the other things that sometimes get crammed into the “mommy box.” But I love being a mom almost more than anything. I fell in love with Sarah and her writing because she has the ability to capture the heart of motherhood without being sappy, overly sentimental, or instructional. And more than anything, her posts are real, the kind of real that does’t make me feel guilty for being busy, or disorganized, or tired. Her honesty and transparency about herself, her marriage, and her story inspire me.
I should also note that this has been an easy pick for best blog discovery beacuse it’s the only blog whose “About” section made me cry. Seriously. She’s that good.
What was your favorite blog discovery of 2009?
P.S. Happy Newy Year! :)

You’re so right Nicole. I just clicked on it and want to follow her also, for the same reasons. Thx
for the generous tip.
Kathleen – You won’t regret it. I love her. :)
Wow. For me, 2009 was the beginning of google reader. I NEVER read blogs before I “met” friends in a Mercyme concert chat room in Nov 2008. That has lead me to using google reader to keep up! I think finding MPT & his humor or you & your honesty have been my favorite 2. I read so many now, that it’s sometimes hard to pick. Being unemployed for all of 2009 and moving 1700 miles away from friends & family has given me a lot of free time. And I’m loving your gem of a discovery! Kind of reminds me of Anne Jackson. Only with kids. Thanks for the head’s up. Only God knows what 2010 will bring.
Shellie – Thank you so much for your kind words. I’m wondering if you are the only person in the world who put MPT and I on a list together. :) I’m glad you checked out Sarah. You’ll love her. You should follow her on Twitter too.
I hadn’t read her story before but it’s all you say it is. Time to add another blog to the reader.
Jason – It is. You’ll love her story and her husband Chad too. Promise.
Thank you Nicole. I went over to her site and read her story and was moved to tears. I need to go back and comment but want to formulate my thoughts completely. Thank you for sharing her blog with us. I have started to follow her on Twitter. Thanks again.
