I'm not against religious images - as long as they are beautiful, or worthy in some way. This one was overbearing, sentimental and maudlin. It cost a quarter of a million dollars. It was made of foam and plastic. The Middle Ages in Europe produced churches and sculptures that have lasted until this day. This country builds foam statues that don't even last a decade. A shame.

Just burned to the ground - struck by lightning. I'm sorry, but I think I see the hand of God in this.

I've seen that too, while traveling to speak. It's impressive to me!

I love the new look, by the way!

Personally, I think Jesus would have thrown it aside like He did the tables in the Temple.
He did not try to use any kind of tactics to draw people. He drew them by His LOVE!!!
He reached out to those that no one else would reach out to. He went to and ate with people that the "Christian" of that day found to be a sin. OMG, JESUS ate at who's home?....
He was about love and giving to the poor. A hand UP not out.

There are many beautiful sites and I understand churches of all kinds want to make things beautiful. BUT, Look how many could have been and probably continue to be helped today with the $ spent on something like this.

If ask, I believe He would be the first one to say, No, Thank You. Put it to use reaching out to those that need it.

Always...In His Grip!!!

I live in Cincinnati and that is in front of a church called Solid Rock (http://www.solidrockchurch.org/). Behind Jesus is a baptismal that is used in the warm weather.
It's annoying and I think a waste of money. I've heard people at the church talk about the witness it gives to all those passing by it on 75. I don't know how much it cost, I heard that it was hundreds of thousands but that could just be the word on the street.
