A Few Announcements

I thought I would take a break from normal blogging to update everyone on a few exciting things that are going on in my world and ask for a little bit of prayer. So, here’s what’s new:
- I’m super excited to finally announce that I’m writing a book (yes, you read that correctly). An unbelieveable opportunity has presented itself to write a book for wives whose husbands struggle with an addiction to pornography. This is obviousy something that is near and dear to me and I’m honored to have the opportunity to write it.
- What’s better news than writing a book? I need help writing it! In the next few weeks I will be launching a new site where wives (and husbands) can share their experiences with pornography. Some of these personal stories and testimonies will be included in the book. I’m really looking forward to the dialogue that will be created and hope you check it out when it is up. (Don’t worry… the new site won’t replace this one. NicoleWick.com will still be up and running!)
- Finally, I will be speaking on Addiction and God’s Design for Recovery next Saturday, December 5th, at the Grief and Worship Women’s Conference in Livonia, Michigan. If you are in the area I would love if you stopped by. You can find more details including registration information here.
Well, those are the announcements. I’m excited to be starting a new adventure, but I’m a bit nervous at the same time. I covet your prayers as I begin the journey. Specifically, I could use some prayer to maintain balance between work, family, and writing as well as for spiritual protection as I dig deeper in some painful parts of our past.
Thank you for all of your prayers, love, and support!
Nicole

Nicole – I cannot wait to see this book. This will answer a desperate need in the Church today and I am sure the Body of Christ will be blessed to have it.
Proud to know you, sister.

Thanks Becky! I appreciate every prayer.
Jon, Thanks for the encouragement. I’m so very proud to know you too.
I’m new to you & your blog. Came via MPT, then @inworship, then @inprogress. Twitter really is something I’m thankful for, too! It has brought this world a little closer. I have actually met a few of these virtual friends!
I am an addict in recovery. 2 years, 4 months. I love my 12 step program and I do my stepwork from both the “approved” literature & “A Spiritual Journey: A Working Guide for Healing”. I feel the need to tie both together in my recovery. I attended a Recovery group at my daughter’s church until we moved.
My husband recently accepted a job in Central WA. We moved 1700 miles. 28 years in the same town. 20 years in the same house! It has been hard at times. I have connected with some awesome people in recovery, but am 30 miles from meetings. They are no longer just 5 minutes away. I sometimes feel overwhelmed in being lonley. I’m in a very small town. I am trying to reciprocate my professional license (pharmacist) to WA, but the cost is outrageous! And I have been unemployed for a year. Husband was out of work 3 1/2 months during this time, too.
God has such an awesome way of bringing people together. The internet connection is truly an enriching & life changing! Saw you briefly last night at trflive. Was my 1st time. Mostly just watched. Clicked on your twitter to follow you.
:)
Shellie – Thank you so much for visiting my blog and sharing a part of your story. We know the recovery journey all to well and laughed when I saw you refer to the “approved” literature. The AA Big Book is almost as important to my husband and I as the Bible. I think for him it’s a actually a draw :).I hope you come and visit again. I’ll be praying that you find a good group and a good church!
Congrats and we will be praying for you! I’ve done some writing (technical books/mags) in my past so I know you need all the prayer you can get. =). You will do great!
I’ll be thinking/praying about how our local church family can best support your efforts. If you know of something now or think of something in the future then you know where to find me.
Thanks Alex! I love you guys and appreciate the prayers and friendship. You guys are one of the many reasons we love this church. Your support means a lot to us especially as we take the next step in this crazy journey. If I need anything I’ll be sure to let you know :)
